Academic Resources for Students

Academic Advising - Faculty who would like to know more about how academic advising can support your students in different scenarios are encouraged to contact Sharon Anderson (Associate Dean for Advising Career and Student Success) at shanderson@csumb.edu or via phone at (831) 582-3915 -- all questions regarding advising support for students are welcome

 

Affordable Learning Solutions -- A system-wide resource that provides advice on options for reducing the cost of course materials for your students (e.g. by utilizing free online textbooks)

 

Cooperative Learning Center -- Provides a range of tutoring services including support for writing, language learning, math, and science 

 

Resources for Undocumented Students -- Undocu-Success Support offers a range of sources for undocumented students including on-campus legal services

 

Transfer Student Success Center -- Connects students with services to aid them in their transition to campus which includes tutoring and peer mentoring services

Basic Needs Referral Form -- If you know of any students who would benefit from better access to basic needs resources (food, housing, et al.), please complete the Basic Needs referral form.

 

Campus Advocate -- The Campus Advocate is a confidential survivor advocate from the Monterey County Rape Crisis Center who serves the CSUMB community and can help with sexual harassment, sexual assault, stalking and intimate partner violence.

 

Campus Care Team -- The Care Team provide coordinated assistance and support to students in distress and/or students of concern, based on referrals.

 

Career Development -- The Career Advising office assists students through all phases of career development and bridges the transition between the academic environment and the world of work; students are encouraged to make appointments with advisors to discuss their career goals.

 

Concerning Behavior Referral / Reporting Form -- A form that is recommended for use in circumstances such as students who exhibit concerning behavior as well as circumstances of discrimination and retaliation.

Food Pantry -- Provides students with food and CalFresh application assistance.

 

Personal Growth and Counseling Center -- Provides advice for faculty regarding how to recognize emotionally distressed students, respond to their needs and make a counseling referral.

On-campus Jobs for Students -- Students can search here for on-campus student positions, as well as internships and summer jobs.

 

Otter Eats -- An opt-in texting feature in which students receive texts that briefly describe the location, time and food items that are available through catered events on-campus.

 

Otter Outfitters -- Provides professional clothing free of charge, to CSUMB students and alumni who may not have appropriate attire for job interviews, internships, senior capstones, on campus career day events, and for professional projects or events.
