The American Library Association (ALA) is committed to promoting and advancing the librarian profession. To demonstrate this commitment, the ALA and its units provide more than $300,000 annually for study in a master's degree in library and information studies from an ALA accredited program, or for a master's degree with a specialty in school librarianship that meets the ALA curriculum guidelines for a Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) accredited unit.
The ARL Kaleidoscope Program is a two-year commitment that aims to prepare BIPOC graduate students for purposeful and consequential careers in research libraries and archives through enriched leadership development and community building opportunities. Kaleidoscope Scholars receive financial support for tuition and professional development, mentoring, and access to educational experiences, and signature events.

The Arnulfo D. Trejo Librarian of the Year (LOTY) Award is presented annually to recognize an early or mid-career librarian who has excelled in the field of librarianship, promoted and advocated services to the Spanish-speaking and Latino/x/é communities, and made outstanding contributions to REFORMA during the previous two years. The award consists of a commemorative plaque and a $500 stipend. The recipient will be honored at the American Library Association Annual Conference.
