CSUMB Makerspace

The Library Makerspace is a collaborative work environment on the third floor of the Tanimura & Antle Library, Room 3125. During Covid-19 conditions, the Makerspace is closed to visitors.

Welcome to the Makerspace

The CSUMB Library Makerspace is a cross-campus hub for creative and technology learning, exploration, and experimentation! This program provides an experimental, collaborative learning space where students can participate in an interdisciplinary community of innovators and makers.

The Makerspace

Current CSUMB students, staff, and faculty can use the Makerspace during open hours. If you are unable to visit during those hours, Maker Kits are available for free to students, and Maker Carts are available to borrow for groups or classes.

Ask about what we have to offer and how to use it! 

Everyone - Please check in and out at the front desk during each visit to the Makerspace
Remember to follow the rules and guidelines. Respect the Makerspace, tools, materials, and your fellow Otters! Safety first - let us know if you see anything that might be unsafe! Always ask if you have any questions about setup, materials, or how to use a tool! Clean up after use, cleaning supplies available.

Learn about the Makerspace and register for Events, see Schedule updates, and use the Quick Check In & Out through the MyRaft App QR code reader.

Wednesday 10:00am-4:30pm
Thursday 10:00am-4:30pm
Friday 10:00am-4:30pm
Saturday 12:00pm-4:00pm

Please check in and out using MyRaft.

General tools and independent project materials will be available. Ask questions if you have any. Clean up supplies are available (vacuum, towels, and spray cleaner). Check out tools (X-acto knives, hot glue guns, needle felting needles) are at the check out tool desk (safety training required for use). Check what Tools and Materials are available during open hours.

Group or class visits 
To schedule or request a group or class visit please email and include as much of the following information as possible:
1. How many participants - limited space for participants available, ~30-40 people, depending on activity
2. Preferred date, time, & duration of visit - need at least 2 weeks notice, most projects can be completed in 1-2 hours
3. Project options for groups are limited - if you have an activity in mind, let use know
4. Any other information, comments, or questions - will you need a facilitator? Do you have facilitator(s)? Specific goals? Accommodations needed?
