CSUMB Makerspace

The Library Makerspace is a collaborative work environment on the third floor of the Tanimura & Antle Library, Room 3125. During Covid-19 conditions, the Makerspace is closed to visitors.

What is a Maker Kit?

Makerspace Maker Kits are available FREE to currently enrolled CSUMB Students!!!!

See below for the required Makerspace Activities Waiver - which must be downloaded, signed and uploaded into the Request a Maker Kit link.

Maker Kit

Makerspace Maker Kit contents may include the following:

Circuit tape, LEDs (no batteries provided).

Craft supplies, paracord, macrame cord, buckle, key ring, and/or more.

Drawing, painting and other mark making tools like pens, pencils, paint brushes, and/or more.

Paper - watercolor paper, graph paper, drawing paper, origami paper, and/or more.

Prompt list for inspiration and printed tutorials, if available.

Fall Kits are being packed for mailing. Fill out the Request a Maker Kit survey. 

Kits are hand packed - sizes, amounts and colors vary.

Kit will not provide tools and optional items like the following:

3D printers

Acrylic paint, rubbing alcohol, and other liquids

Acrylic or wood (laser cutting material)

Awl (for bookmaking a thumbtack could be used instead)

Containers for water

CNC machines

Color printer


Furniture, a desk, table, board or other hard surface to work on 

Hand tools (hammer, screw driver, drill, soldering irons, etc)

Heat presses

Laser cutters

Masking tape, washi tape, or other tapes

Needles (embroidery, felting, sewing - may include tapestry needles which have dull points)

Quilling tools

Reusable plastic painting palettes (a plastic or paper plate, egg carton, a piece of wax paper or plastic wrap could work)


Stickers, sticker paper, or vinyl

X-acto or precision cutting knives (use responsibly)

Vinyl cutters or weeding tools

Register for a Makerspace Virtual Workshop

Fall 2020 workshops will be online Fridays from 1:30-2:30pm.

Workshops are free and open to students, alumni, staff, faculty, and community members! Workshops will have different topics each week and if you cannot attend on Fridays - a Makerspace Workshop Recording will be emailed after! Past workshops and related step by step guides will also be able to be accessed after registration.
